Session 2: Get Active

Adaptations from the original DPP include explaining what kilojoules/calories are and the link between activity and energy balance. The role model story character is changed to be a culturally appropriate model. An “activity mapping” exercise has been added to help participants lay out their daily routine and identify times and places when they might become more active. Obstacles to exercise and methods of being more active have been adapted to be culturally appropriate. More safety information, particularly for individuals with diabetes, is provided.
